Hd6xx schiit stack2/7/2024 ![]() DAC module added is ES 9028 Cost is GBP270ģ DAC module added is Schiit's True Multi Bit DAC Cost is GBP350Īdd p&h it's (reasonable and fast) into the mix unless you can find a dealer who sells Schiit near you. It comes in three flavours for the DAC.ġ. An alternative amp for GBP250 is the very powerful Schiit Asgard3 which is also highly recommended for the 650s and doesn't play with EQ like the Zen. My question about the Zen is what does it sound like without the 6XX setting?Īlso, there is no DAC in the Zen and the difference a DAC makes is significant. If you go for the 650s, the reviews I've read about the Zen with it's HD6XX setting/button are very good. ![]() So if you're listening and the TV is on you might find that a problem.Ĭlosed cans within your price range are too many to mention but you can get a very good pair for 400 quid. However, that tinny sound leaking out does annoy the **** out of some people. If your family are happy with that then it shouldn't be a problem. The Zen/HD6XX combo sounds like a good one except the 6XXs are open back and will leak sound, albeit at a low level. I think their soundstaging is unbeatable at the price (about 1500 bucks).Īs mentioned by Rodentdog, we need to know your top budget but it seems you are willing to pay 240 quid for the amp and a top price of 400 for the cans. It seems that most people seem to either like them a lot or hate them a lot. So if that's what you're looking for, I would definitely recommend these headphones. The headphone cables are thick, but don't generate any microphonics - you won't hear the cables when moving. They're also very comfortable, you don't really notice wearing them after a while. They're a bit light on the bass though, but the midrange frequencies are nicely clear and detailed.ĭepending on the music you listen, they can become a bit shouty - acoustical music like jazz and classical is what they're best at. Soundstage width and depth are what really stood out with these headphones compared to similarly priced ones and it was the primary reason I bought them. The combination of the two provides very wide and immersive soundstaging. What's the pricerange you're looking for?Īfter auditioning various headphones I bought Sennheiser HD800S headphones about a month ago. The Fidelio X2 seem to get good press and very modestly priced? I have some B&W PX7 but due to their internal DAC and requirement to be charged I'd rather something just for this purpose that is passive. I've been really impressed with the iFi Zen Phono that I have so pretty much made my mind up to give their Headphone amp a go.Zen Can Signature circa £240. So I don't really want to spend £1000's and go overboard. I don't want to replace the enjoyment I get from listening via the speakers, just an alternative If I want to hear a vinyl or CD from time to time. Just as a secondary option if I fancy listening when the kids are in bed or whatever. I'm mulling over adding in a sensible priced headphone amp and headphones. I love it and it's my pride and joy but due to our home I'm limited to when I can use it, maybe a few hours a week on average. So im at the modi 2 vali 2 by schiit and after a while enjoying this stack i would need recommendations on my next upgrade. Here's my situation - I have a relatively decent turntable, CD, Integrated Amp, Speaker set up (see profile). The soundstage was outstanding and the classical song where where they were ment to be. The extra power made the hd6xx really open up i could hear everything so clear. Better than my starting source the lgv30. I setup the bad boyz and plugged in the cans and boom amazing. So i shipped a modi 2 + vali 2 by schiit over to the uk from the states. My lust for better clearer sound had increased and after reading much online i decided a dedicated amp + dac was needed. However at 2vrms output, classical songs needed to be at very high volume to hear the instruments better. I bought massdrop sennheiser hd6xx and plugged them into the v30 which has the ability to drive the 300ohm cans and was blown away by the sound. ![]() So to anyone who says the lg 30 is bad think again. The lgv30 is a amazing device that can play mqa flac dsd files and also has Ldac bluetooth + aptx aptx hd etc. Search Started with wh1000xm2 by sony nc headset.
